Of all the various disciplines of climbing available in the UK, Scottish winter appeals to me the most with its ephemeral nature leaving us chasing conditions and stoked to the max when it all comes right. Long days, solitude, remote settings, sun rises, sun sets, all the weather you can imagine and incredible natural beauty.

Scotland was also my home for over 20 years with the Cairngorms being my local stomping ground and I have spent a good amount of time working in the far North West Highlands around Bheinn Eighe, Liathach and Skye.

For many the transition from summer rock to the winter scene may be a daunting task and some help, guidance and reassurance is all you are after.  For others is may be a week ticking as many classic grade Vs as possible.
