Chamonix is World renowned for its freeride and off piste skiing. With a lift system offering nearly 3000 m vertical descents to the valley floor, there is no where else like it on the planet. In every direction fairytale summits pierce the azur blue sky, separated by mythical ski lines. Aiguille du Midi, Grand Montets, Brevent are all famous ski areas in their own right but what makes Chamonix so good is its geographic location and road links to neighbouring areas. If the snow comes from the South then a quick ride through the Mont Blanc tunnel takes us into Italy, home of the Skyway lift, Courmayeur, Gressoney and Alagna. If the snow comes from the West there is St Gervais and Contamines, to the East, Verbier, Zinal, Grimentz, and Zermatt. The key to riding the best snow is keeping a close eye on the forecasts and a lifetimes worth of local knowledge to interpret where the good skiing will be. Every guiding day with me with incorporate an element of teaching and coaching where I will pass on tips and techniques developed over 35 years of skiing from racing gates to skiing the hardest lines in the Alps.
