Want to get better at tree skiing, freeride, touring, ski mountaineering, steep skiing? My route to skiing the hardest routes in the Alps didn’t just happen overnight but the you don’t have to spend years obtaining all this knowledge for yourself when I can coach you to better performance in all aspects of the sport from technical skiing, touring, mountaineering, nutrition, training, injury avoidance, psychology, strategy, evaluating conditions.
I have gained knowledge and experience from many walks of life. As a teenager I was heavily focused on racing mountain bikes and at 16 placed 3rd Junior in the Scottish MTB Series. The support and training I got covered base fitness, high intensity training HIT, power and endurance, strength, injury prevention, nutrition, massage, visualisation and psychological development. As an engineer on high risk offshore construction projects I’ve learnt how to evaluate and mitigate against risk, whether it be physical or financial risk. Certainly a skill I use continuously while in the mountains. And my skiing followed a similar path of development from initial instruction on piste, racing slalom, offpiste, mountaineering skills, avalanche evaluation, steep skiing, back country and remote wilderness skills. I was already a steep skier before coming to Chamonix in my teens, but that was just a foundation on which to build and develop into a big mountain skier. After 40 years on skis I’m still learning, but I’ve learnt a lot along the way and can save you making some of the mistakes I learnt the hard way and fast track your development.
